Film Screenings and Performances

The festival’s public program will conclude on Saturday, October 18, at 8 p.m. with a short film program and a lecture-performance. Swiss-based Argentine artist Julia Mensch, together with Argentine musician Sofía Viola, will reveal the connections between the amaranth plant and traditions of political resistance in Latin America in their lecture-performance Kiwicha. The short film screenings will feature works by Swiss-based Colombian artist Felipe Castelblanco and the Pan Amazon Media Collective, which reveal the landscapes and conflicts of the Amazon region, tell of the significance of fire rituals in the lives of local communities, and reflect on the ability of plants to promote the coexistence of different forms of life.
