At the core of this work are 3D-printed, recycled, and ultra-recycled vegetable fats – a material usually associated with the food industry. Here, they are transferred into an artistic context, where experiments in form explore the interplay between technology, economy, and aesthetics. The spatial composition unfolds like a visual “symphony,” shaped by rhythm, repetition, and transformation. The structural elements – holders – function both as practical and symbolic forms, expanding the meaning of “holder” from everyday utility to aesthetic reflection.
Uģis Albiņš graduated from the Visual Communication Department of the Art Academy of Latvia, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. To date, he has held four solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows in Latvia and abroad, including in France, Belgium, Portugal, and Estonia.
Albiņš creates works across diverse genres, employing various techniques and media to explore and question our surroundings in a multilayered way. He actively engages with different systems and standards that embody social values, thereby reflecting contemporary culture and environment. His practice addresses abstract themes as scenic phenomena, questioning the significance of mechanisms beyond their purely practical function, while using form and its expression as an integral part of visual language.

Darba ietvaros tiek izmantota autora izstrādātā tehnika augu tauku tālākai pilnveidošanai, turpinot industriālās pārtikas ražošanas un biznesa tradīcijas, kuru mērķis ir nodrošināt šo vielu stabilitāti un pielāgotību ilgākai lietošanai. Materiāls tiek pārnests no pārtikas industrijas uz mākslas praksi, kur tas kalpo kā refleksijas punkts par tehnoloģiju, ekonomikas un estētikas attiecībām. Izstādes darbos lomu ieņem formas, kas atvasinātas no t.s. “turētājiem”. Ikdienā šādas konstrukcijas paredzētas priekšmetu balstīšanai, taču izstādē tās pārtop par augu tauku turētājiem. Rodas apgriezts cikls – turētāji, kas izgatavoti no ultra pārstrādātiem augu taukiem, kļūst par pamatu pašu turētajam materiālam. Vārda “turētājs” nozīme paplašinās – no funkcionāla līdz sociāli simboliskam jēdzienam, kas atklāj cilvēka un objekta instrumentālo lomu industriālajā skatījumā.
